Pre Sales Engineer

Role Responsibilities
Working in a rapidly developing technical environment to support management and sales team in pre-sales communication with our customers re technical aspects of the solution.
Effectively interact with other members of the team to support the sales and marketing processes.
Develop training material for the sales and customer support team at the appropriate level from engineering documentation.
Active engagement in your approach to on-going learning to ensure that you are sufficiently knowledgeable to excel in the role.
Participate as an enthusiastic and supporting member of a highly focused technical support team.
This role may require up to 10% travel.

Required Skills and Knowledge
Applicants must have 3 years recent experience in a customer orientated role, in an ISP or in a large corporate body.
Fluency in the English language both written and spoken
Unix / Linux operating system deployment, configuration and administration experience.
Web server, application server and database administration knowledge, specifically LAMP.
Network monitoring systems configuration and administration experience – Cacti, Nagios, Zenoss, Castlerock or similar.
Basic knowledge of the design, implementation and operations of routing, switching, firewalls in complicated network scenarios.
Knowledge of all layers of the common OSI protocols.
VoIP deployment and operations experience an advantage.
Programming and/or scripting experience an advantage, including database access, regular expression matching [e.g. PHP, Perl, Bash] an advantage.
Good working knowledge of core Microsoft office products, including Visio, an advantage.
A proven knowledge of systems and network security is an advantage.
A strong understanding of traffic & protocol management systems is an advantage.
An understanding of RF engineering concepts is an advantage.
A proven knowledge of ITIL or similar best practises is an advantage.
A proven knowledge of a project management methodology is an advantage.
A positive approach to team work in a busy customer focused environment.
Track record of accomplishment and effectiveness within organisations.
Experience in fault logging and tracking an advantage.
Good typing speed and an ability to multi-task effectively
Full clean EU driving license an advantage
EU citizen or hold full valid working visa.
Passport and unrestricted ability to travel (i.e. no factors which would block visa applications in general) an advantage.

Hours and Environment
Core hours are between 0900 – 1730 daily, 37.5 hours per week, flexible working hours are possible with the agreement of your line manager.
Some on call support and out of hours/weekend working may be required depending on business requirements and for change control purposes. Remuneration will be provided for this.
